When I see my brother crash
as he always seems to do
I feel measured in my sadness
listening to him boil in his stew
we do our best to comprehend
those highs and lows that’ll surely do him in
I let my heart feel what I can

well, I grew up with a prize,

though I was terrified
when the lights went out at night
well she gave me a light

is this all really worth it I’ve pondered out loud

and I’ve felt my babies cry
and I’ve heard them laugh at the strangest times
felt the joy of triumph that brings them so alive
